Farming on Nisqually Land

Withywindle Valley Farm is located on the traditional and ancestral land of the Nisqually, or "Squally-Absch" People. People of the river, people of grass.

The land that we farm and reside on was forcefully and brutally taken from the local tribes,  some of whom still reside here and steward the land to this day.

From medicine creek that runs through our back yard, Nisqually bay to our west, Nisqually river to the north, and Mount Tahoma to the east; this land, waterways and Valley are imbued with their history.

We would like to nurture our relationship with the Nisqually tribe and our shared responsibilities to this place- their homeland- where we mutually abide.
